Are you currently on a long waiting list for psychological assessment in the NHS?

Are you looking for a quicker way to be referred to an NHS mental health service that is most appropriate to your needs and difficulties?

Are you contemplating the idea of going into therapy but unsure on where to go and what therapy framework is best suited to the nature of your difficulties?

Do you feel that you are currently stuck in a rut but do not quite know how to get yourself out of it?

Whatever the reason is, Tutum Psychology can help you with this. A psychological assessment can help you make sense of  how and why your difficulties started, recognise the things that keep these difficulties going, and identify useful 'exit' points and coping resources.

Psychological Assessments Offered

Pre-therapy Psychological Assessment and Formulation - This is carried out prior to commencing therapy. The assessment appointment typically takes around 50 minutes to complete hence the fee is higher in comparison to that of individual therapy. This initial appointment is required even if you have already accessed any form of talking therapy in the past. The outcome of this assessment session will inform plans for treatment, which will be discussed on your initial therapy session.

As a responsible clinician, I practice within the limits of my competence. If I feel that the nature of your difficulties would benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach then I have a duty of care to direct you to an appropriate service within (or outside) the NHS.

The fee for pre-therapy assessment is £140.

Stand-alone Psychological Assessment and Formulation - This is recommended if you wish to have a comprehensive psychological formulation and assessment report completed so that you can get referred to an appropriate service within the NHS. This assessment appointment takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. It is split into two parts: 1) written clinical measures, and 2) semi-structured verbal interview. It means that in addition to the verbal assessment, you will be asked to complete a number of clinical measures that are deemed relevant to your presenting difficutlies.

Following completion of the assessment, a psychological formulation report is written. A psychological formulation includes a summary of your current concerns and difficulties, factors that may be relevant to the development and maintenance of your difficulties (e.g. early childhood experiences; past & current relationships), recommended next steps (e.g. referral to appropriate services), and intervention plans.

The fee for this comprehensive stand-alone assessment is £350.
