Individual Psychological Therapy

Scientific studies on the efficacy of psychological interventions suggest that the more positive clinician-client relationship is, the better the outcome of talking therapy.

Here at Tutum, it is important that our clients feel safe, validated and supported in their therapeutic relationship with their clinician. From experience, we understand that it is impossible to feel safe where there is no trust. We believe that openness and honesty from both parties are necessary in order for trust to grow. In other words, we are in this together. This collaborative partnership between us means that your journey is our journey too.

We employ an individualised intervention approach which means that treatment delivery is based on your needs and preferences. One of the many competencies of a Clinical Psychologist is the ability to combine and integrate two or more evidence-based therapeutic approaches to address your needs and dififculties as an individual person. Tutum Psychology's approach to treatment is integrative. We are competent at delivering third wave Cognitive Behavioural interventions such CBT, CBT for psychosis, enhanced CBT for eating disorder, Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

What needs to happen prior to therapy?

Individual therapy session bookings can only be made following completion of two 50-minute assessment appointments. A thorough psychological assessment is needed in order to make sense of your difficulties and draw up a treatment plan. You are, however, not obliged to take up therapy should you change your mind about it following your assessment appointment.

Therapy funded by insurance?

If you would like to pay for your treatment via your insurance policy, it is recommended that you speak to them first to: 1) secure pre-authorisation number, 2) confirm number of sessions covered, and 3) if applicable, settle your insurance excess directly with your insurer or with Tutum Psychology (your insurer automatically deducts your excess from your clinician's fees).
